Tom Hutchison
Volunteer Pritchard Y-DNA Project Administrator

Family Tree DNA projects are run by volunteer administrators who work on their projects in their own free time.

Project administrators do not receive any payments or incentives from Family Tree DNA.

Help family researchers from common (Y-DNA related) branches of Pritchard, Pritchett, Prichart, Prickett, Prickitt, Prichett, and Pritchart families work together to find their common paternal ancestor. More specifically, our goals are as follows:

  1. Identify how the participants' families are connected, both genetically and through paper trails.
  2. Identify and confirm genetic lineages of ancestral families and find genetic cousins in the United Kingdom, Europe or wherever they may be in world.
  3. Publish on this Website all the Paternal Lines of our members to aid current and future genealogists in their research.
  4. Actively recruit participants for the project, growing our marker matrix which will increase the likelihood that existing and new members will have a genetic match.

More Background Information

In May of 2001, FTDNA(Family Tree DNA) pioneered Genetic Genealogy with yDNA and mtDNA testing. It is still a relatively new tool available to genealogists, but these tests can help genealogists verify their paternal ancestry (father's father's father's, etc) in a quick and easy way. This saves time, prevents mistakes, and provides invaluable data that can be obtained in no other way.

This DNA Project is seeking Pritchards, Pricketts and Pritchetts from everywhere in the world. Through yDNA analysis of the participants and along with conventional genealogical research, this project will help determine those members that share a common Pritchard or Pritchett male ancestor.

To participate all you need is a living male Pritchard or Pritchett relative willing to provide a simple, painless cheek-rubbing sample.

One thing that is lacking at many DNA Project websites is a sense of community and information concerning the surname project. Together with your help, this Project will strive to keep all members up-to-date on news concerning this Project.

For Example

Need quick up-to-date Project News? Just see the left side bar found on most of this website's pages, it contains all the current news concerning the website, tests in progress, new matches in family groups and up coming events. If you have any news to let the other Project members know about, use the Contact Page, to email the project's administrator what you want the other members and visitors to know.

The Pritchard ▪ Pritchett ▪ Prickett DNA Project would be proud to post any Success Stories as they happen. We just need our members to provide them!  They are a shining example of how Genetic Genealogy can work for you. Here are some for other surnames at the ISOGG site.

Please remember, Y-DNA projects are the most successful when the project's individual members are active and engaged.

Part of a successful Surname DNA Project involves grouping Y-DNA matches. For this project, these groupings are designated as Family Groups. If you don't see your particular Pritchard, Pritchett or Prickett Family listed, it is because it hasn't been tested.

For those that do not belong to a Family Group, they are listed under their Haplogroup as singletons. There is a more detailed explanation of Family Groups and how our Patriarch pages are listed.

There are a two ways to view the direct paternal lines of our established Family Groups.

It is suggested that you start with "see all Family Groups" first. That way you can use your browser find feature to search for a family of interest. It is suggested that you use the maiden name of their wife or a county name.

Once you have identified a Family Group of interest, you can then switch to the "individual Family Group" list to select a particular Family Group for more information.
